Guild of Heroes is a free-to-play mobile RPG in the style of Torchlight or Diablo. Move around in real-time and use powerful skills and attacks to destroy your foes!
Seemingly inspired by games like Torchlight, Guild of Heroes is an isometric action RPG designed for mobile devices. Unlike many other mobile games, Guild of Heroes features a real-time movement and combat system that lets you move around and dodge attacks at a high pace. In other words, it’s the opposite of an idle game.
While Guild of Heroes has a simple control scheme, there’s lots of depth from customization, equipment, and more. As you play through each level, you’ll have lots of loot that you can pick up. You can immediately equip anything you find that strikes your fancy, or you can use your loot to get better gear, brew potions, and more. Guild of Heroes has a limited number of inventory slots, however, so if you’re not planning on buying some extra slots, you’ll want to be judicious with what you pick up when.
As mentioned above, Guild of Heroes sets itself apart from other mobile role-playing games with its real-time combat and constant movement. You’re not the only one who can move, however. The enemies move too! This twist ensures that you’re constantly on your toes, whether you’re darting out of the way of a powerful attack or if you’re readjusting to ensure that your skills hit a pesky boss. It’s a neat inclusion that helps the game feel more alive.
Guild of Heroes has been out for many years. This means that there’s been a steady stream of content updates and balance patches to keep the game fresh for its player base. Just like with other old games, Guild of Heroes is probably in a better state now than it was on release. Unfortunately, it’s not a game like Cyberpunk 2077 or No Man’s Sky that’s become light years better than its release state. Guild of Heroes is still a simple, freemium action RPG that’s somewhat grindy and even more money hungry.
If you’re looking for an RPG with lots of killing and looting, no idling, and plenty of gear upgrades, Guild of Heroes is perfect for you. If you want more of a story, however, or if you prefer the less twitchy, more strategical gameplay of idle-style games, you might want to skip this one. Either way, Guild of Heroes is free, so consider giving it a shot!
Guild of Heroes follows a standard freemium model that rewards playing regularly for short sessions. This means that the first and most important thing you should do is try to get your dailies done each and every day. No matter how silly or trivial the quests seem, try to do them! This will ensure that you’ve got a constant flow of diamonds that you can use to purchase premium options.
As you progress through the story of Guild of Heroes, be mindful of your power level relative to the enemies you’re facing. Your goal is to be a little bit too powerful for any given zone. This means that you can consider going back and playing through levels for extra experience and loot very early on in your journey. The faster you kill things, the faster you’ll clear levels, so don’t be afraid to do a bit of grinding.
Guild of Heroes has a complicated web of resources that can be difficult to manage, especially as a new player. The best way to help mitigate this is to purchase more storage space for real money. While this might seem like a waste, it’s a perfect way to hang on to items while you figure out whether or not it’s a good idea to sell them. Given how small the default storage space is, it’s almost necessary to purchase some amount of additional storage to play the game. Try not to rush into this purchase in your first few minutes playing the game, but don’t be afraid to buy some inventory storage after a few minutes or hours of playing.
Guild of Heroes can be played on both mobile and PC. Many players take advantage of this to grind on multiple platforms. On the go, you can play the game on your phone. At home, you can take advantage of the bigger screen and easier controls of the PC version and really blast through the levels. Even without a PC, many Guild of Heroes players check in with the game multiple times a week to ensure they don’t fall behind.
Guild of Heroes has a difficulty curve that’s reminiscent of a match-3 game. In other words, as you progress through the game, you’ll find that you need to grind more and more. Each level has a cooldown before it can be played again, meaning that you might find yourself taking long breaks in order to progress optimally. Worse, as you progress, levels are replaced with harder versions. While it’s rare, it’s possible to put yourself in a situation where you don’t have anything easy left to farm. If this happens, you’ll have to rely on the cash shop to pull your character out of their problems and resume progression.
Guild of Heroes looks pretty good for a mobile game. It’s cartoony and bright, with clear textures and big buttons that ensure you get the skill you want. It doesn’t have quite the same level of polish as more modern freemium games, however. That said, since it’s an older game, it’ll run great on older hardware, meaning you won’t need to upgrade your phone to stay current.
While individual levels in Guild of Heroes have a cooldown, the cooldown is per-level. Try looking for other similar activities while you’re waiting to farm a particular level. With a bit of planning, you can play Guild of Heroes for hours on end without having to wait for a cooldown. It’s a fantastic way to raise your power level, fast.
